Last Monday, amidst the announcement by the Vicentín company to reactivate the Ricardone and Avellaneda plants, Marco Pozzi, General Secretary of SOEAR, expressed his concern about the lack of positive signals from the electorate towards Pullaro in the recent elections in Santa Fe. The low participation was questioned, and there was reflection on the need to consolidate a space that seeks to represent workers outside of partisan politics, to avoid being hostages to situations like those experienced with the Vicentín company.
Pozzi highlighted the importance of not depending on the CGT, stating the need to build an independent entity that promotes solidarity among different labor sectors. The historical struggle of oil workers against outsourcing was mentioned, as well as the importance of remaining firm in the defense of labor and wage rights.
Regarding the provincial context, a debate on constitutional reform in Santa Fe and the possible implications for workers was mentioned. The need to build effective representation of workers' interests amidst discussions about the reform, which could affect key aspects such as the right to strike and working conditions, was expressed.
Pozzi also criticized the lack of state intervention in the case of Vicentín, emphasizing that the company not only affected the state and producers but also its own employees. A possible hollowing out of the company was pointed out, and the importance of solidarity and union autonomy to face labor crisis situations like the one currently experienced was insisted upon.
In relation to the conflict with Vicentín and the non-compliance with labor agreements, a possible employer lockout was mentioned that might have contributed to the cessation of operations in the plants. The need to seek solutions that guarantee the full payment of wages and the reactivation of production was emphasized, as well as establishing constructive dialogue between workers and the company.
In summary, Marco Pozzi emphasized the importance of building a solid and autonomous unit from the CGT, effectively representing workers' interests and promoting solidarity among different labor sectors. The need to defend labor rights, fight against outsourcing, and seek concrete solutions for issues like the conflict with Vicentín and the non-compliance with wage agreements was highlighted.
